Blue Ribbon Quilt!

Here I am at the Colorado State Fair Quilt show next to the Blue Ribbon winning quilt that I quilted for my customer, Dixie. Its a beautifully embroidered pink floral quilt on black background and I custom quilted some flowers, leaves and vines in it. It was Dixie's first time to enter in the fair, so I am thrilled that we got a blue ribbon. Two other customers of mine also won 3rd and 4th place ribbons for their quilts.

Memory Quilt

My customer, Jodi, commissioned me to make her a memory quilt using her late husband's jeans and pants. She selected 88 of her favorite family photos to put in the center of the blocks, and she also bought some different fabrics at the quilt store to go along with the pants. She is thrilled with the result and it looks great in her bedroom.
Now we are working on a coordinating valance for her window with the leftover border fabric.
It was alot of work, but its so much better than keeping pictures in a photo album that you never look at. This way you can see them all the time and just have fun remembering the good times.
Picture quilts are hand washed and air-dried for cleaning. The pictures will last a long time if cared for properly.
So try it!!

busy...busy...busy!!

Hello,
Haven't been here in a while...
Had several quilts going for customers this summer and now am helping my quilt club plan their annual fund-raiser: Holiday Fair 2008!
Its a quilt show, boutique and silent auction all wrapped up in one day! We have Connie's School of Dance coming to entertain us while we shop!! And of course, quilters always have treats to hand out - so Christmas cookies of all kinds will be handed out for shoppers as well.
Its fun to see all the members get so excited about their donations and we hope to have a great and prosperous time. It will be Saturday November 1st noon -5pm.
I have a few days off from my in-town orthodontist job so plan to be in the quilting studio catching up!!

Retreat Quilt Show! 2008

Here are some pictures of the retreat weekend in Woodland Park, Colorado !

Great quilters = a wonderful variety of quilts!

M & M's Woodland Adventure Mystery Quilt Retreat

Hello and welcome to my blog-
The weekend of April 26-28 was a wonderful mystery quilt retreat hosted by myself and my friend, Marilyn up in Woodland Park, Colorado. We taught the Nova quilt, by Debbie Maddy, as a mystery quilt and had a super time. This was our second year, and we had 12 quilters.
Friday was the social - and we cut the fabric. After a bit of karaoke and a few relaxing glasses of wine, we settled in our cabins for a great nite's sleep in the Colorado mountains. Saturday was an intense sewing and assembly day ending with a fun nite at a pizza place. We sewed some more after dinner and flopped into bed, exhausted.
Sunday morning found us showing off our wonderful quilt tops - each a fabuous work of art and so many varieties of color. Can't wait to plan next year's weekend!

Pueblo Quilt and Stitch Expo

Here are some of the quilts I worked on displayed at the Expo this weekend!

Pueblo Quilt and Stitch Expo

Friday, April 4th was the start of the Expo - Southern Colorado's biggest quilt show. Many vendors from all over the nation come and sell their quilt stuff! I was honored to have several of my customer's quilts displayed. I also entered a couple of my own. My daughter also displayed her first custom-designed quilt she made for her husband, an avid OU fan!

Several of my friends from our quilt club were there and we enjoyed sharing all the new goodies and delicious fabrics we bought! A perfect way to celebrate our passions!

M & M's Woodland Adventure Mystery Quilt Retreat 2007

Last April, my friend, Marilyn and I hosted a weekend Mystery Quilt Retreat up in the Colorado mountains. We had 14 students come and finish a bed size quilt top in a fun-filled atmosphere with food, jokes, chocolate and of course, quilting! The weather was unusually warm for April, so we had lunch in the park and when we finished on Sunday morning, hung our quilt tops on the rustic fence adjacent to the convention center. The picture at left shows just some of the finished pieces - oh, so many fabrics - and oh what a great surprise to see what happens when its all put together! This year our retreat will be April 25 -27, and we are really excited to plan this. We have 12 students coming this year, and boy, are they in for a wonderful "adventure".

The Boss! And Man of My Dreams!

Here is my husband of 31 years, Danny!
He is such a great supporter of my work and he has his own craft business, too. He custom makes jewelry and believe me, I have quite a collection of fabulous pieces! He just has a small corner of the studio - the rest of the room is quilting stuff! But then again, I don't feel too bad - the family room is HIS with his big screen tv - which watching happens to be his favorite pasttime!!

Fun Weekend!

Today I worked in my quilting studio and finished one of my good friend's Trip Around The World colorwash quilt - it turned out great - can't wait to deliver it!
Started another quilt for a customer - it is a wacky nine-patch design - I love all the different blocks and quilts I get to do - picking the right quilting pattern is so much fun, then more decisions on thread choices, etc. I love the process and usually the outcome is better than expected!
It was a nice spring day in Colorado, but then the wind came a'blowing and I decided to work inside. Couldn't find any plants yet in the stores - I guess its a bit too early.
My husband and I had our first ice cream cone, tho - it was yummy and made us yearn for summer. We saw alot of boats going to the reservoir which is 5 minutes away - can't wait to join them!
